Chelsea are preparing to offer midfielder Frank Lampard a new one-year deal.

The Chelsea midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and he has been heavily linked with a move to the MLS to end his trophy laden career.

However, despite all the rumour which have claimed he is not getting a new contract, there is reports on the Metro website which have claimed they are preparing a new and improved deal to keep him for one more year.

The club could offer similar terms to what he has now, once they have finally announced the appointment of a new manager in the summer, who is many believe will be Jose Mourinho.

Lampard is the clubs leading Premier League scorer this season and ever so close to becoming the clubs all-time leading scorer, so although he isn’t the same player he was a few seasons ago. He is still a valuable member of the squad and deserves a new deal.
